About Us
I don’t know about you but this is one of the first sections I head for when visiting a site for the first time. I want to know something about the people behind the site. Well, in that same spirit let me tell you a bit about us (well, me mainly!).
My name is Tony Champion and I live with my wife Sandra in Sussex, England. We are the director owners of Positively Travel Ltd. My role here is to seek out and create the content for the site while Sandra keeps us on a sound financial footing! We have one son who is currently away at University.
My early(ish) years
My first taste of travel was a 24-hour coach ride from London to Athens, Greece: it was purgatory and an experience I would not have repeated had it not been for the fact I had to return home the same way!
The saving grace was that I got to spend a glorious month sleeping on beaches around the island of Crete.
This was my first trip abroad at the ripe old age of 22 and it changed my life: a dramatic statement perhaps, but true.
I was so inspired by the whole experience, and the many interesting people that I met, that within 2 months of returning home I had resigned from my office job, said goodbye to my friends and enrolled as a mature student for a degree in Psychology.
At this point I could use the phrase ‘and the rest is history’ but that would not explain how I got from a degree in Psychology to operating a website dedicated to travelling positively.
Mind you if I tell you that I have worked as a psychiatric nursing assistant; I am a qualified teacher having taught at primary and secondary level, and worked with children with social and emotional behaviour problems; been an airport security guard and run my own tour operating company, that probably doesn’t explain much either.
